The Lodge of Amity #5 F&AM is holding a fund raiser for Officer Michael Schiele of the Zanesville Police Department.

Officer Schiele has been off of work since he was shot in the line of duty on Aug. 23rd. Even though his medical bills are covered by insurance he still has other expenses, including the expense of driving to Columbus everyday to be with Bosco.

there will be a soup and sandwich supper (choice of chili or beef stew)

When: November 7th 2009 4- p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: The 6th floor of the Masonic Lodge located on 38 N. 4th street next to the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office.

Cost: The cost of the dinner will just be a donation. This event is open to the public.

Please come out and give your support to one of our local hero’s who puts his life on the line to serve and protect so we can sleep safely at night.

We wanted to thank Value City Furniture for their generous donation to the Zanesville Police Department. Yesterday, a representative from the furniture store met with Chief Eric Lambes and Officer Michael Schiele to donate the funds necessary to purchase a new K-9 officer for the Zanesville Police Department from Pine Grove Kennel.

This new K-9 officer will work with Officer Schiele on the streets of Zanesville. Our beloved Bosco will still be working with Officer Schiele as part of the ZPD K-9 unit in the public relations division. It makes me feel blessed to know that even people outside of the Zanesville area care enough to give to our community, allowing us to help our officers and be safer in our community. This site was created to help the Zanesville Police Department K-9 unit, and the Brave officers shot in the line of duty on Aug. 23rd 2009. Officer Michael Schiele and his K-9 partner were both shot in the line of duty while trying to effect an arrest of a subject wanted on a warrant, as officer Schiele approached the suspect to effect the arrest the suspect started to fight Officer Schiele at this time Officer Schiele was able to hit the belt release to open the door and let Bosco his K-9 Partner Bosco out of the patrol vehicle, then the suspect pulled out a 9mm hand gun and opened fire on Bosco hitting him twice, as Bosco laid bleeding the suspect turned his gun on Officer Schiele and fired one shot hitting him as well. The suspect fled on foot as both Officers lay bleeding.

Though the suspect was caught and the events of that dreadful night are over for the community both officers are still trying to recover physically from the injuries they both sustained that night. This site was created to lend what support we can to both of our brave officers.
