Sun, Aug 23, 2009. Officers Michael Schiele and His K-9 Partner Bosco were shot in the line of duty while serving a misdemeanor warrant on Dominick Conley. Conley allegedly shot both officers with a total of three shots two striking Bosco one hit him in the chest area and the other hitting him in the neck, then he turned the gun on officer Schiele and fired one shot hitting Schiele in the left hip.
Officer Schiele is recovering and expected to return to duty, however Bosco has been touch and go since this incident and not expected to return to duty. this web site was created to help with all the bills that have been accumulated saving this brave K-9 officers life. Many do not know that Zanesville Police Department K-9 unit is funded with only donations from the community, no other funds are available to them to fund the unit.
On A Personal Note
The family of Michael and Bosco would like to thank all of you , for the cards, warms thoughts donations and prayers. It has helped us all immensely get through this hard time, we never thought that the community would gather together behind us in supporting the Zanesville Police Department and Bosco.
We are happy to report that Bosco is expected to make it through this, however it is not likely he will be able to return to duty.
